Game seems to be fun for me, even with all these bugs there are.
After a patch or two or even maybe new drivers it will be perfect playable. Right now no matter what i do i got texture popin and blue squares around in far distance sometimes. But no crahses or screen tearing as many write about on steam forums. And im using the fixes from steam forums and those found on the net still have problems.
How do you enabled hd textures? i used those fixes i found and still have blurry textures when i get close to something. _________________ Intel Core I5 2400

those blurry texture are from Texture compression u have to disable them and increase the Texture size which increases the texture details. im sending u the CFG file via PM where u can download it.
Edit: Sent u the Fix for Rage Hope U like it ehehehe _________________ i7 3930k @ 4.6

Not long later, ‘angular graphics’ on the NeoGAF forum discovered that creating a .cfg configuration file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base was the solution. Be aware, however, that you will almost certainly require a video card with 1.5GB of Video RAM to enable 8K textures, other graphical niceties and GPU Transcoding, though it may also work on systems with just 1GB of VRAM if said options are toned down. To discover how much VRAM your graphics card has open the NVIDIA Control Panel, click on ‘System Information’ on the bottom left, and then scroll down the list to ‘Dedicated video memory.’ The amount of VRAM is displayed in Megabytes, with 1.5GB being displayed as 1536MB.
Name the file rageconfig.cfg and add the following text using the Notepad application, located in All Programs > Accessories:
If you have 3GB of Video RAM, you can modify the configuration file’s first four lines to end with 16384, instead of 8192, which will enable Rage’s 16K textures, though as we don’t have a suitably-equipped GPU to hand we cannot offer any guarantees as to the game’s stability or visual fidelity when using this modification. Update: We have now tested the 16384 configuration on a 3GB GeForce GTX 580 and can detect no improvements whatsoever. Based on our new understanding of id Tech 5 it may be possible to see benefits from 16384 at the very highest resolutions in the most demanding situations.
If you’re unsure of how to set up the configuration file follow these steps:
Right click in the empty white space in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base (if you are using Windows XP or 2000 the path will be C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base)
Left click ‘New’
Left click ‘Text Document’
If the file that appears is named New Text Document.txt:
Enter rageconfig.cfg in the dialog box and click off to accept the change
Double click on rageconfig.cfg in the base folder
If you are prompted to pick an application to open the file with, tell Windows you will chose the application yourself, then select Notepad among the options and open the file
Paste in the configuration from above, hit Ctrl+S on your keyboard, and then close the file
Load Rage
If the file that appears is named New Text Document:
Click off to accept the naming
Double click on New Text Document to open it
Paste in the configuration from above
Click ‘File,’ then ‘Save As’
In the ‘File Name’ box type rageconfig.cfg and click ‘Save’
Close the file
Load Rage
The ‘8192’ referenced on the first four lines relates to John Carmack’s aforementioned 8k texture quote, forcing Rage to display 8k textures at all times, overwriting the Auto-Balancer. ‘angular graphics’ also retrieved a slide from a tech presentation regarding id Software’s id Tech 5 engine, which powers Rage. In the slide, id Software states that their engine can support 4x Anisotropic Filtering, so the config file also enables the quality-enhancing technique via the final two lines of text, in addition to the amount of Antialiasing specified in Rage’s in-game Video Option menu
Are those fixes and config changes short enough to be posted here?
I'm still waiting for my download to finish, huge game and slow download don't seem to fit together all that well. _________________ Intel i7 2600k | MSI Z77 GD55 | 8GB Corsair DDR3-1866 | Gigabyte GTX 670 | Creative X-Fi Titanium HD

Thx for the file Fir3ball!!!!
Found out the other config file have been placed in wrong place
Its where it should be now
I have added the config file (plus few fixes from steam forum) from you and it looks like this:
Still ugly as hell, is it suppose too look like this?
On the other hand, now i can see dust flying in the air, sun is hurting my eyes, sun beams and i can see tiremarks/skidmarks on the dustroad when i drive so it helped a little
Hate those green/purple/blue shadows in dark places. Atleast the texture popup is gone. _________________ Intel Core I5 2400

Well, my download is finally finished I even got the patch the released a couple of hours ago and I can still launch the game
Is the built-in AA any good, does it have any downsides (blurry textures for example)?
I just ran a multiplayer match with cars and it really reminded me of "Deathtrack" some decades ago... _________________ Intel i7 2600k | MSI Z77 GD55 | 8GB Corsair DDR3-1866 | Gigabyte GTX 670 | Creative X-Fi Titanium HD
Hey semp Id just released a patch via steam "Automatic Download" u can now have an option on the video settins to enable HD textures its called texture cache or something change it from small to large as well as anistrophic filtering those screenshots i wasnt using any config tweaks since there is no need for it nemore. i guess Id software heard people complaining about it and released the patch. but if u still want the confige files i can still give it to u along wit the instructions wit it let me know. _________________ i7 3930k @ 4.6

You know what im very tempted to uninstall orginal version, download skidrow version and use that config file of yours instead.
Atleast i can play it and its looking better.
I think i should go back to what i use to do when i was a bit younger, download cracked games check it out and if i like it buy orginal. right now i just wasted money on something that looks like alpha version of a game. _________________ Intel Core I5 2400

Anything still worth a look at, tweak-wise? I didn't want to get a story spoiler so I only looked into the multiplayer part so far. Textures looked really blurry still.
Is there any fast way to get a nice, crisp picture and a nice LOD? _________________ Intel i7 2600k | MSI Z77 GD55 | 8GB Corsair DDR3-1866 | Gigabyte GTX 670 | Creative X-Fi Titanium HD
Sorry i cant tell how it works i gave up for now so i didnt even look at those tweaks if they help. If you try do tell how or if it works on patched version. _________________ Intel Core I5 2400
