I'm in need of some help with my drivers. I have an older gateway laptop that I have recently upgraded to Windows 7. I'd noticed some odd problems and finally figured out it was opengl.

I have a radeon x1200 series graphics card with windows 7 professional. ATI doesn't have a driver for windows 7 but suggests it uses the vista32 version even though it's not officially supported. I've tried this (catalyst 10.2) along with several other versions and nothing works. Catalyst Control tells me that I have opengl version 6.14 which is impossible I'm pretty sure and DirectX 8. I've checked opengl extension viewer and I have the generic GDI 1.1 opengl and DirectX 9 for my driver... I've uninstalled, reinstalled, tried other versions of catalyst, ran driver sweeper and still it tells me it is the generic 1.1 that is loaded. Why will it not load the opengl provided with my driver? Can anyone tell me what is going on?

I've spent the past week or so trying various things and nothing seems to work... I know technically the radeon x1200 doesn't have a driver for windows 7 and that could be why it's not installing opengl (possibly?) but I cannot figure out how to make it do so... I installed the legacy driver just to see if that would help but nothing seemed to happen.

It's a m-1625 gateway laptop with an ATI Radeon x1200 graphics card. Some others had this problem and listed various fixes but none seemed to work so far for me :/
