These drivers are an alternative for Creatives massive driver releases, weighing in at only 5~6mb on there newest release (3538m). So far i have been testing them for a while today, and from just switching from creatives drivers i can tell that the sound quality from mp3s is alot beter, there "control panel" is lightweight, and even has a speaker test built in (unlike that optional install from creative cd), there are some rumors that people were saying these dont work for games, well i can confirm this is working for WoW, Halo 2, BF2(although didnt get passed main menu on BF2, due to some bug not caused by this tho, dam ea Evil or Very Mad but i could hear the main menu music so that sorta confirms it :p).

If you guys want to try them out here is a link:
http://www.driverheaven.net/general-discussion/128197-3538m-released.html

If your looking for a lightweight, creative alterntive this seems to be it Smile

EDIT: Oh let me add in, im pretty sure these are compatible with 2000/XP/Vista, and from everything up to Audigy 4. Im currently using them on Audigy 2zs. Oh yea and the Guru3d Driversweeper (formerly XDC has an option to clean the Creative drivers, so you may want to use that after uninstalling creative apps+driver via device manager)

does it work with the XFI series ? since that what i am running now. but what sempy had as a set up for his system, creative set up that is. has work for me now, i have had the snaps and crackles. i think he should post the steps for that. which would be very good info to have.

also driver cleaner pro has creative in it so you can remove them completely

read this in the kX forums.

To reduce the rate of "Will kX work on X-Fi" threads that plague the kX forums, I will leave this thread "Stuck" for a while

kX only works on 10k1 and 10k2 based Soundblaster Live! and Audigy x series cards.

The X-Fi is NOT based on the 10kX architecture, and in the present state of kX, and CL's refusal to provide any form of information, kX will NOT support the X-Fi

qq, sorry guess you're gonna have to stick with creative's Sad

double edit: i used to have popping and crackling, i thought it was my audigy 2zs but it turned out it was actually my speakers... X-530 Logitechs. There are a few speakers popping can affect, now im on Z-5300e and pop'n'crackle free.

We use them on a couple of live 5.1's at home. Sound is much better with the KX drivers, but the only drawback is you lose EAX acceleration. Perfect if you've got an older sound card, especially if you can't use alchemy in Vista.

Shame they never worked on one for the X-Fi - I've got a feeling you could coax a lot more out of it than Creative ever will.
