Onboard gfx quality! damn scav dont even get me started wit u single 5870 againts my 3 285's i had a quadfire 4870x2 which is like way faster than ur single 5870! and my 3 285's beat my old 4870x2 quadfire oc. u know theres nothing really different between 4870 series and 5870's lmao they only basically double the shader cores and render back ends and add dx 11! i can crank up higher texture quality, shadows , AA , Af and AAA than ur 5870 can handle and wit ambient occlusion on! hell even wit physx on! so when it comes to dx 10 ur 5870 will look like onboard GFX compare to a triple 285 gtx! now when talking about dx 11 when fermi comes out next year wit newly redisigned architecture! man i dont know maybe megan fox will be rendered in real time lmao!

I can only give opinion on my experiences, but Ive had no 'problems' with Catalyst drivers, actually I find the fact that I can regularly expect an update every month a godsend. I agree with ivd playback atm tho, its not that great, NV on the other hand was utter shite.

http://benchmarkextreme.com/Articles/HD%205870%20TriFire/P18.html

depends on what your using ur PC for but here shows 5870 CF besting 285gtx Tri-Sli? granted there are a few areas where the NV option is better, however these are still immature drivers. I hear 9.12 betas are much better.

Personally Id rather 2x faster cards than 3x slower cards for similar performance.. why?

Two cards = less power and heat.
Two cards = space for more in the future Wink
Two cards = Dx11 which IS a big deal... I used to have a physx card once upon a time.... physx really is the biggest waste of money, I see no difference using it or not with current games (and I mean useing the current NV card physx).

The ONLY reason Id buy an NV card would be for CUDA.

nice try buddy! but not good enough! lmao what u gave me was just part of the benchmarks upon reading those whole articles most games they tested gx 285 tri sli is still faster than 5870 CFX, let me summarize the whole damn article

Nvidia

crysis warhead
Farcry 2
world in coflict
necrovision
vantage

Ati

Hawx
Lost planet
stalker clearsky

well 5 wins for nvidia vs 3 wins for ati thats only 285 gtx tril sli vs 5870 cfx! now i know theres no way a 285 tri sli can beat a 5870 tri fire but a 2x fermi in sli or even 3x fermi will whoop the ati canadian garbage back to canada hahaa!! another thing ati's current architecture sucks ass big time look at this man 5870 has 1600 shader cores it has higher clock speed and using gddr 5 and even double the render back end like texture units, and etc! but wit a low tiny 256 bit memory lmao! now if u put that on a cfx thats like 3200 shader cores! double the bandwith and etc! now if u look at gtx 285 its architecture still better compare to ati it has only 200+ shaders cores now in tri sli it has only 600 shader cores and less core and mem clock speed compare to ati but still it whooped the 5870 on most games! now the real match up would be Fermi or gtx 300 series vs 5870 i will bet u 100 bucks 5870 will be left to dust in terms of IQ and Performance!

Not That I really care as my PC which is no where near any of those specs plays anything i want.

ATI at a fesable res of 1920x1200 wins on
Farcry
Hawx
stalker
World in Conflict

NV wins Crysis and theres a close Tie for Necrovision, and who cares about benchmarks. Unless you find watching a screen of repeatable scenes interesting.

Also the two arictectures are comepletely different, you cant compare and Im afraid there is no 'whooping' involved.

As I already stated the new drivers are better (article uses 9.11 and 9.12 are reputabley better) and across the board the ATI cards are doing better.

Now Im not saying NV dont make great cards.. they do and Im sure fermi will be awesome, but its fact at the mo that 5870 are excellent cards.

For 90% of PC users who are limited by cash, ATI make IMO the best bang for buck cards. If money wasnt a limiting factor and I could get massive screens, I may go for NV as in that review they are pulling ahead at increased res. But I would wait while for 9.12 whql or 9.13 beta and then make a decision.

both 'teams' have their fan base, but I'll give credit where credits due.

Oh and I hope they hurry up and implement Lucid Hydra on Mobo's so we can get ~100% scaling with ~8 cards.

Not that anyone would be able to afford or need it, but would still be kinda cool (just realised I was about to contradict myself there SniperX )

Good cause the XG9.11 beta wasn't turning out so promising. The XG9.8 is going to be hard to top but we need a new driver for the 5 series users. Bring on the xmas driver!

i prefer the 9.12 v4 or v5 yet since they run the same on my system yet. and the 9.12 runs way better then the 9.11 official driver.
