The game still has one of the best storylines ever and at the time the doom 3 engine was pretty much the best graphics out there. _________________ Intel i7 3930K | Corsair H100 | Killer Nic Xeno Pro

Yeah, I first played Doom 3 on my Geforce 4 Ti4200, and I was seeing 5fps or less in areas lol. That engine was truly innovative, alot of games utilize it. And that game is still pretty damn spooky at 3am with all the lights out and either nice 5.1 surround or a topnotch headset. _________________ CPU:Intel Core i7 920 @ 3.92ghz 1.375v w/ H2O Mobo:eVGA x58 3x SLi Memory:12gb Corsair Dom. ddr3 1600mhz Graphics:eVGA GTX 780 PSU:Enermax Galaxy 1000w Storage:Intel 510 120gb sata 3 SSD, Seagate 1.5tb, Seagate 500gb x2, WD 1tb x2 Sound:Creative Recon3d Pro Fatal1ty w/ Z-5500 Digi's, Sennheiser PC360 Displays:Samsung S27B550 / Samsung 2243BWX Case:CM Cosmos S OS:Win. 7 Ult. x64

great atmosphere, no thinking and a great engine.
just nonstop no brain needed action. i really enjoyed playing r.o.e and doom 3 on the hardest level a few months ago.
prey is also a very nice n superb looking doom3 engine based game! even better then doom 3 imo. _________________ ______________________________

I have in on steam with the expansion. But i never really played more than a few hours of it.
I didn't find the story interesting. While the storyline is similar to the original, the game strayed from the influence H.P.Lovecraft's writing had on Doom1 and 2.
However I did play doom 1 and 2 recently and after coming off the game back into reality I could feel an eerie effect which is still has on me! _________________ CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2GHZ

lol i had to upgrade my gfx card just so i can play this in more then a slide show pace !!! 6800 ultra 256 FTW !! then i saw 60+ or more fps then and yes this game rocks !! the gore is outstanding i think .
and so far the only game or games that came close to the gore factor as doom3 has is FEAR and killing floor !! but the story line and then the xpack that came out which i thought was way to short for it to follow up to doom3 was a let down IMHO _________________ Thermaltake Kandalf LCS

Please tell me you've tried Clive Barker's Jericho?
If you haven't then oh my you're in for a surprise when you see the gore and dark atmosphere of Jericho.
It has some of the best in-game interactive cutscenes i've experienced. They are nothign special, but for the events of the game they make you go "ARGH!" especially "LICHTHAMMER!"
Also, second to last boss, fat guy hanging from ceiling on chains spraying his intestinal fluids over you - pure class!
In fact, I think it's time for another play through of this game with Ambient Occlusion or maybe my 3D glasses!

Jericho is pretty tight. I had to stop playing when it came out because my specs couldn't run the game. _________________ Intel i7 3930K | Corsair H100 | Killer Nic Xeno Pro

With Ambient occlusion and antisoptic x16 it still looks the part imo.
I might see if my 3d glasses work with it.
BTW Scav, if you really want to put your horror nerve to the test, you could try Amnesia: The dark descent.
I enjoy horror games but when I played Amnesia I was unable to finish it as it freaked me out too much. I had to watch videos of others playing the game all the way through.
that game officially made me a sissy! _________________ CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.2GHZ

Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
Many MANY have made claims that this is close to one of the scariest games ever made. I have messed around with it for a bit, and yeah I was pretty amazed by how immersed I had become. Theres even a disclaimer that suggests the game is best played in the dark with a headset on. There isnt any weapons or gore, the game is all about immersion, much less combat. So you spend your time just running like hell and hiding in cabinets and whatnot, hiding in rooms barricading the doors... its different, but so far I am really liking it. Truly scary shit.
