Apparently it's going to cost at least as much as an 8800 ultra (about £400). Considering an 8800gts 512mb is only £200, you could get a pair with the full retail cooler for the same price (or cheaper).
Alternatively keep an eye out for good deals on a pair of GTX's. _________________ CPU: i7 860 @ 3.8ghz (Corsair H100/Noiseblocker M12-P)

I seriously cant see any reason to buy that GX2. I think it would better to buy two GTX's when they get cheap enough (which should happen when the 9 series cards come out) I might even get a second 8800GTX when they drop in price to my budget. That way I should be sorted for a long time with my Q6600. _________________ Case : Corsair Obsidian 800D (Want to change this for a quieter case and a bit smaller)

It's the smart move - sure a 512mb gts is about as powerful as a GTX, but only at lower resolutions and only if you keep the AA low. At higher resolutions and with a reasonable amount of eyecandy, the gtx has it for breakfast.
I'd expect the difference to get bigger when you overclock. Sure, the gts will take a hefty overclock on the core (not that the gtx does badly), but it's still crippled by the memory bandwidth. As soon as you do something that needs more than 512mb, or more importantly more memory bandwidth, the gtx'll pwn it. _________________ CPU: i7 860 @ 3.8ghz (Corsair H100/Noiseblocker M12-P)

Really wish they'd get together and release an Intel chipset with SLI. Can't see it happening though, SLI is the only selling point for Nvidia's Intel boards.
If your P35 is like my 965, the 2nd pcie 16x slot is only rated at 4x, and disables all your 1x slots if you use it. _________________ CPU: i7 860 @ 3.8ghz (Corsair H100/Noiseblocker M12-P)

Yes the second PCIe slot is only 4x so its probably the same. Shame its not SLI though. _________________ Case : Corsair Obsidian 800D (Want to change this for a quieter case and a bit smaller)

Yeah. Thinking of it that way the 9800GX2 would be kind of worth the buy but it would realy need the PCIexpress 2.0 bandwidth to work properly. _________________ Case : Corsair Obsidian 800D (Want to change this for a quieter case and a bit smaller)

I can only really see it being viable if you've got an ATI or Intel chipset. Pointless if you've got SLI. Didn't think of this before, but you'd actually do better from a pair of oc'd GT's - nearly as powerful, but much cheaper.
After my experience I'm cautious about recommending pcie 2.0 cards for 1.0 mobos. Speaking of which, the retailer's agreed to give me a full refund for my g92 GTS, so I'll buy a GTX when the money hits my account. _________________ CPU: i7 860 @ 3.8ghz (Corsair H100/Noiseblocker M12-P)

yeah the problem with the IP35 PRO is its only PCIE 1.0. I would have waited a few more days but this motherboard is failing on me. _________________ Case : Corsair Obsidian 800D (Want to change this for a quieter case and a bit smaller)

Still can't get my head around it, probably never will get to the bottom of it. Gigabyte reckoned the GT would work, so it could be the GTS is more fussy.
