I just Upgraded to 12 GIGs of ram ddr 3 and turn off page file or swap file and DAM! i notice a big boost in responsiveness on windows 7 as well and my games felt a lot smoother so if u guy have 8 gigs of ram or more definitely turn swap file or page file off. _________________ i7 3930k @ 4.6

i had that set up before i went to raid 0 it was 2 1TB hd i put the pagefile on slave drive and it did improve perfomance but not as a good as turning it off and using ur Ram since ram is way way faster than HD. _________________ i7 3930k @ 4.6

well i have been running raid 0 for 4 to 5 yrs now and i all ways have had a slave drive to store frap pics and vid to among other things.
so moving the temp/tmp folder to it was a snap and then moving the pf to it was another good idea. _________________ Thermaltake Kandalf LCS

Some games/programs will start crashing and give you a virtual memory error if you completely disable page file. It's best to move it to another drive separate from the OS drive. _________________ Intel i7 3930K | Corsair H100 | Killer Nic Xeno Pro

Pagefile settings is like anti depressant pills mostly just a placebo effect with some occasional adverse side effects.
Pretty much same thing can be said for most registry tweaking settings too not to say it's impossible to notice a difference, but you'd be hard pressed to in most situations even if you tried and approached it in a scientific manner with the speed of computers in this day in age.
Readyboost was designed to give the benefit of turning off the page file. I strongly recommend getting a good 4 or 8 gig usb drive and dedicating it to RB..
What it does is cache all the data from the page file and runs it using the much faster usb drives memory. The page file then acts as a backup of that, but the pagefile gets the info first at boot and when an app is started if not already residing in memory.
I also set my pagefile to 3 gig static as most systems seldom go over 3 gig of stored info. turn off the page file/s and reboot, set the page file to 3 gig, and reboot. It will create the file in one block and not split it up into chunks doing it that way. _________________ Processor: I7 960@4Ghz Mainboard:P6T deluxe V2 Memory:6Gb G Skill 1600@1678 Readyboost:8Gb 2.0 Graphics:KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 EX OC, MSI 460GTX TWiiSOC Driver:310.90 x64 Power:TT BlackWidow TR2 RX 850W Storage:Corsair F120ssd, 4x 1.5 TB Sound:Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium TvTuner:PC150-U Monitor:2xAsus VK266H 26inchHD 1920 x 1200 OS:Windows 8 x64 3DMark 11 - P8657
I've always set mine to "max physical memory x 3". I've tried disabling PF but after a while like Semp mentioned, programs started crashing and windows started to feel sluggish. _________________

I think my biggest improvement was moving to a SSD for the OS -> ZOMG!!!. Everything is blazing fast, but anyway, I use my raid0 setup to store Temp/TMP, and moved my pagefile there as well.

P.S: HELLO EVERYBODY!!!!!!... it's been a while!!!!...
Agreed. I have a Crucial M4 for the OS and an Intel X-25M for the page file and games. Holy crap, so fast! Best investment for a half way decent system. _________________ CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k
