That's "normal" with this driver, the IDLE temperatures are higher indeed for other people too.

From the release notes:

With the Release 280 drivers, NVIDIA GPU clock speeds will increase more quickly in
response to increased graphics demands. Conversely, with lower graphics use the GPU
clock speed slows down more quickly, conserving as much power as possible.
You may notice the fluctuation in clock speeds while engaging in various tasks on the PC.
This is to be expected, and indicates that the GPU performance mode is adjusting as
needed and that the GPU is operating at the optimal performance level at all times. It
does not hurt the life of the GPU.

No, nothing changed really. Temperatures stayed the same throughout all these drivers.

Had a longer gaming session yesterday and they did really well. CoD BO was extremely smooth, very clear graphics and no problems at all.
This was also the first time Dirt 3 ran nicely even when it dipped below 60fps.

I am having that same problem, and when it comes around it is brutal!!! I keep crashing for hours till it finds its happy spot (this is with WHQL drivers) I am going to try XG drivers now had to get here in safe mode which sucks 100% I don't get why nvidia is having so many probs????? I can't even think back to a time where it was ever this bad! I have been dealing with computers since the 12" & 5.25" floppy days, DOS on tape even remember my Atari 800XL and Com 64 & 128 lol and ever since the birth of PC in 95 I have been playing on them for one thing or another, got into gaming about 6 years ago on them and overclocking not far behind lol. I still wish that just one person was good enough to make a PC that could tell you when it crashes WHY IT DID!!! instead of (kennel mode crash) explanation ( your computer crashed because of a problem in the Kernel mode) I hate that crap! Please some one fix this nvidia driver problem for once and all, I don't even care to much about 100% performance at this point just let my pc run its programs and game with out crashing because of stupid NVKlmh what ever driver!!!!

OK sorry just needed to vent that lol

The 'driver stopped responding error' could be caused by an unstable OC (volts) or a faulty PSU. Tweaking services in windows will help as well but it generally doesn't completely fix the problem...from my experiences.

Ok I am not one to ever just say that I know it can't be something as with PC's they will always prove you wrong lol, I would really like to know how I could find out if it is or is not my PSU just to rule that one out. I have a Antec TPQ 850 so it is not a crappy psu but I have been overclocking on it for about 6 months the volts all seem with in specs in programs like HWINFO and AIDA64 and others as well, But one thing is kinda weird I found out when it goes crazy with the driver failing thiing nothing really gets it right intill I shut off the PC and turn back on not restart a full shut down and then it seems to be fine. It is very hard to test and takes a long time because it mite be days or even a week before it will do it again. I am at a loss on how it could be the PSU but it just mite be PLEASE help me learn how to test it to figure out if that is my problem or not. Just to add I game on this rig every day and push it allot and never have anything really go wrong in game once in a while I will get the random BSOD in this (module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7CC40)) but there is no explanation when I look up the codes that ever point to PSU but as I have checked about everything else figured I would put this out there as well, Most of the time I know it is the driver as the bug says (module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x7FEFA4)) which is the Nvidia problem but there of coarse is that other one which I figured was related but now thinking it mite not HELP if you can thanks

PS my secondary PC just crashed as well (Nvidia also) with a Nvidia date stamp thing what the hell is that please there has to be a way to research the codes to really tell you what is wrong rather than the double talk I have been seeing???? example ::: The Nvidia date stamp failed ----look up prob---- this code is tio let you know there was a date stamp problem with nvidia lol DUH!!! Ok now try to go further to find out problem and just end up getting more confused if there is a way to help me really get into finding the problem and fixing it please I would be for ever grateful to that ever so best keep secret of Microsoft Once again thank you for any help

MR REALLY CONFUSED

Its a driver issue with this driver (the original Nvidia one) theres loads of people having the same problem with this driver and not other drivers. In my case its just a broken computer.

If you're having problems with only this driver then I would say that's your problem. You can buy a voltage (PSU) tester to monitor your fluctuations in real time if you think your PSU might be dying.

Hm, well Enermax PSU's are supposed to be pretty good.
In fact I've been using one in my system for over a year now.

As for this driver, no problems.
Apart from Fable III, but that's always had a lot of bugs ever since I started playing it (thankfully I've just about done everything I've wanted to do in the game).

Idle Temperature is roughly around the 36°c to 39°c mark (right now it's 38°c).

Edit: I'm somewhat confused about the Power Supply comment. Not sure if I answered the question correctly Razz

Well I've never even bought a PSU Tester, so I'm sorry for not giving you a proper answer xD

Never even felt a need to buy a tester. I usually just replace the actual PSU every 1-3 year(s) anyway (and usually everything else hardware-related since I seem to have the cash) as I see fit.
