Think I'm gonna have to revert back to the 8.8's..... nothing but problems all morning. Randomly goes to slim vertical gray and white lines. Did the total safe mode uninstall w/ Driver Cleaner. Thought I was just having the issue when I was bringing the clocks up on my 4850, but went back to stock and the issue is still there. Running Vista 64 bit home premium.

Hope you have better luck. I might try again later.

I had problems with tmy 4870 failing to respond with the 8.9 driver. ATI need to do something about their GPU's and drivers. The 4870 is good but is lacking when AA is enabled.

Actually went in and checked what was really going on... when I open the XG 8.9 driver set and try to install. The display driver listed is actually an 8.53. Still trying to figure this one out. It does the same thing when I try to reinstall the 8.8's in the driver box list for the install package tells me it's going to install 8.5202.... I freakin lost now. gonna wipe all my ati and xg files and start all over again... Anyone else with any ideas

Those are the actual code numbers (or whatever you call it) Ati uses for their drivers. The 8.53 is actually 8.9 driver to the public.

As Steve30x said...that is the ATI "Driver Packaging Version". If you open CCC and click Information Center/Graphics Software you'll see that is followed by "Catalyst Version" which is the 8.9 (or 8.Cool referred to when discussing the driver number.

These XG 8.9 work (as always) great for me. Other than using autotune, I haven't made any other tweaks to my card and have not one problem "XGing". Thanks TweakForce!

Actually tried uninstalling them and I lost my whole display. Had to boot from the windows CD and do a whole system restore back to last Monday. Running the 8.8's again and everything is fine.

I just installed these drivers yesterday and worked great untill I turn on anisotropic filtering to max and antialiasing to max then I get studdering every 5-10 seconds in Warhammer Online. I don't know if its just that game or what, but when I set CCC to default the studdering goes away. Overall great drivers!!

Warhammer Online is known to have that stuttering but. I think the developers are working on a patch to fix it.
